Getting started

From an empty workspace to a link you can send, in the order you will actually do it.

1. Create your account

Go to app.tailoredfolio.com and choose Sign up. You will be asked for an email address and to confirm it. Before your workspace is created you read and agree to the terms, privacy policy and acceptable use policy; the same documents are always available from the footer of every page.

2. Write down one piece of work

On your home page, choose New work item. Give it a working title (only you see it) and pick how you want to write:

  • Guided, six blocks. Six prompts, in any order: context, complexity, opportunity, approach, outcome, takeaway. Good when you are starting from memory.
  • Bring your own. One open field. Good when you already have the material, or you would rather write it your way.

Write it the way you would tell a colleague you trust. Include the parts you could not put on a public page; this version is private and stays that way. Everything saves as you go.

3. Add the details that make it findable

Under Details, note where the work happened (the employer or client, for your reference only), your role at the time, when it was, and tags. None of this is the story itself, and all of it is searchable across your library.

Two settings matter before a story can be used in a Package:

  • Confidentiality sets how a Package treats the story by default: fine to show as written, show with names removed, only with the organization's sign-off, or never leaves your workspace.
  • Ready for public says the story is written the way you want it shown. Until you mark it ready, it stays a draft and cannot be published.

4. Build a Package

Under Packages, choose New package. Give it a name for yourself ("Acme, Head of Design") and a title the reader will see. Then:

  • Add stories from your library, in the order they should be read.
  • Write a short framing note on each one if you like: a line the reader sees above the story about why you chose it for them. The story itself is not changed.
  • Write the landing message: the first thing they read. Who you are, why you are sending this, what to look for.
  • Optionally switch on how they can reach you: an email link, your LinkedIn profile, and a short closing message.

Preview shows exactly what a reader will see.

5. Publish and share

Publish runs a last check (for example, a story that is not marked ready, or one you set to private only) and then freezes the Package behind a link. Copy the link from the Share link panel and send it however you like. Later edits stay with you until you publish again.

If you want to control who can open it, see Share links: passcodes, limits, and turning a link off.
